Today, it is much more than just a tournament.
Reaching for the summit
A breathtaking view. A formidable course. A fiercely contested trophy. Golf’s only major to be staged in continental Europe, The Amundi Evian Championship is a reference point in the women’s game. First played in 1994 and elevated in status as the fifth women’s major in 2013, it has become an exceptional event that draws the world’s greatest players. Since 2000, Rolex has been the tournament’s Official Timepiece and a major partner.
A grand spectacle
The Amundi Evian Championship is contested annually at the same location: The Champions Course at the Evian Resort Golf Club. Completely redesigned in the late 1980s, this course puts the abilities of top golfers to the test. Located on the shores of Lake Geneva at the foot of the Alps, it offers breathtaking scenery, where the beauty of the surroundings is matched by the demanding nature of the fairways.
Evian is really a very special place for me, and not just because I won my first major here at 17.
Roll of honour
Over the years, The Amundi Evian Championship has established itself as a premier stage for the most talented players. Rolex Testimonees have excelled at this major, whose winners include Annika Sörenstam (2000, 2002), Lydia Ko (2015), Anna Nordqvist (2017) and Brooke Henderson (2022).
