Colombian marine biologist Fernando Trujillo is the 2024 Rolex National Geographic Explorer of the Year for his work protecting the Amazon’s pink dolphins and the river system that is their home.
Fernando Trujillo, 2024 Rolex National Geographic Explorer of the Year, has never had any doubt about the way he wanted to spend his life. A voyage with his grandfather to the village of Puerto Carreño on the banks of the Orinoco River in Colombia inspired his decades of research into freshwater dolphins.
